Three generations. One mill town. An obsession with doing things slowly, by hand, and exactly the way they should be done.
Old Mill Candy Shoppe didn't start as a business. It started as a kitchen table, a copper pot, and a conviction that candy made with patience tastes different than candy made with shortcuts.
My grandfather built the first batch in the shadow of the old mill that still anchors this town. His recipes weren't written down β they were memorized, adjusted by feel, and passed to his daughter, who passed them to her daughter. That's us. Three generations of the same stubborn insistence that real candy takes time.
We still pull taffy by hand. We still temper chocolate the old way. We still wrap every piece individually because that's what our customers expect β and honestly, it's what we expect of ourselves.
From the candy counter to the gift box, everything in our shop is made in small batches right here. No factory. No assembly line. Just us, our recipes, and a whole lot of sugar.
Our claim to fame. Each piece is hand-dipped in our signature chocolate blend and finished with nuts, sea salt, or a dusting of cocoa. Made every morning, gone by afternoon.

Pulled to order in our original copper kettles. Over 30 flavors including our famous old-fashioned butterscotch and seasonal specials.
Loose-leaf style from glass jars β the way candy shopping used to be. Roll your own mix by the ounce.
Our black licorice is rolled, folded, and aged the way it was a century ago. Not for everyone β but for the right person, it's everything.
Custom assortments for weddings, holidays, corporate gifts, or just because. We'll pack it with care and a handwritten note if you want.
Light, airy nougat and crunchy peanut brittle β both made in small batches with real honey and roasted nuts.
We buy the best cocoa, the purest cream, and real butter β not the substitutes that save pennies and cost flavor. If an ingredient doesn't earn its place, it doesn't go in the pot.
Temperature is everything in candy making. We watch every degree, stir every pot, and never rush a batch. The sugar knows when you're impatient, and it will tell you in the taste.
Dipping, rolling, cutting, wrapping β every piece passes through human hands. Machines can't replicate the pressure, the timing, or the instinct that comes from doing the same motion ten thousand times.
Every piece is individually wrapped in our classic paper β because candy wrapped with care tastes better. Then it goes into a box, a bag, or straight to the counter where you'll find it waiting.
We've been coming to Old Mill every summer since I was a kid. Now I bring my own kids. The candy tastes the same β which is the whole point. Nothing else in this town has ever mattered as much as those glass jars and that copper pot.
We're right downtown, just off the square. Park on the street, walk in, and let us know what you're in the mood for. If it's not in the case, we'll probably make it for you.
